UK health workers who fought AIDS crisis to tell their stories

Work is underway on a one-of-a-kind oral history project, recording interviews with healthcare workers who cared for patients at the height of the AIDS crisis, thanks to new funding made possible by National Lottery players. Thanks to a grant of £56,500 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), together with £32,600 from St Stephens AIDS Trust, the project will record stories and reflections from a diverse range of healthcare workers involved in the care of people with HIV/AIDS in the UK in the 80s and 90s. The interview collection will be archived in the British Library Sound Archive with on-line public accessibility as a permanent resource for use in research, publication, education and media broadcasting.
